Goals for 2012

Happy Friday!!!

I have thinking a lot about the coming year. From this I have come up with a set of
Goals for the coming year.

1. Get back to work - the basis for all of the other goals as they all require money
to accomplish

2. Get back into an apartment of my own - I miss my own space, privacy, furniture
and crafting supplies

3. Purchase a new boxspring and mattress set- mine is in desperate need of
replacement

4. Purchase a new TV and TV Stand - mine died a while back

5. A new laptop in PINK!! - my netbook is convenient but in need of an upgrade soon

6. A new car, or new to me atleast - the picture shows my current car choice. This will allow me to get to work, and go see my kids and new grandbabies without having to waste so much time on the Loser cruiser aka the bus lol.

This is a quite extensive list, but once back into the work force all are achievable :)

Last weekend I went over to spend the weekend with my sister. We went out for a bit to a local bar, I must say I was very disappointed in the class of people there :( Will not be going back again anytime soon. We did make pulled pork sanwiches which were very delicious :) Yesterday in the subzero temperatures we made the trip over to the neighboring town to visit Aaron, Jenn, Alex, and Baby Grayson!! He is just so cute!! On the job front there is no news, still waiting to go back to work, and hoping this will happen very soon!! I cannot wait to have my own place again and access to my craft supplies, and Project life. Cool the phone just rang and I have an appointment Thursday to hopefully get some progress made towards getting back to work!! Fingers crossed!! Hope you all have a wonderful day!! Susan

I am a Grandma!!!

My Grandson Grayson Douglas O'Connor was born January 4, 2012. He has the most amazing expressions on his face at times. I have shared a few pictures of him that will definitely hitting the pages of my Project Life very soon!! He is so adorable and rarely cries, and only wakes 1 -2 times a night for a feeding and goes right back to sleep. He is truely an amazing baby!!

Last Friday's Stamp TV Challenge

Last Fridays challenge over at stamp TV was to created a card using a bird. This was the card I made. I have a serious lack of bird images from which to choose, so I chose this cute little bird heading home to get his mail. I matched up some card stock to the cute little bird DP, punched out some corner accents, added some crystals and ribbon, and colored the image with Copic markers.

A Big Change

Greetings Fellow Creative People,

Today I was put off on a medical leave of absence. I plan on using this time to heal myself both mentally and physically. Additionally, I will have time to indulge my creativity, find my mojo and get back to creating some awesome new paper creations for me to share with you all. You never know I may even submit some cards to a magazine and see if I can get published.

I also recently purchased a Project Life kit from Becky Higgins, and will now have time to work on it and share my progress with you all.

I have really been busy so for this year with many new changes and challenges. First I have moved in to a new apartment, 1 bedroom, and no craft room. What was I thinking!! So I have had to get very creative and find some crafting space. So far it is the dining table, with my supplies in various locations. This is not working for me!!! I need to come up with something better soon!! I have not been very inspired as of late but did make a few new cards.

Over at Stamp TV, there is a new color spotlight challenge. This week use red turquoise and white on a card. For my card I used scalloped and plain oval nesties and a fancy label die from spellbinders, stamps are from "Magic of Christmas" from GKD. The red patterned paper is from Basic Grey. You cannot really see in the picture but the ornaments are covered with Star Dust Stickles.

Who's That Garden Girl?

This months MFT VIP KIT arrived this week and it is garden themed. So, I had to make a card with this kit ASAP!! The girl`s outfit is paper pieced, the tomatoes have clear glaze on them to make them shiny and I love this gathered gingham ribbon!! The paper is from Cosmo Crickets Garden Variety paper pack. I hope you like this card!! This stampset is being released on July 7th at the MFT new release party.

I got happy mail today!!!! My lastest Gina K. order. I could no longer resist buying Melanie Muenchinger's "A Year Of Flowers" once she made the companion set "Pressed Flowers". I also bought a Stamp-a-ma-jig to use with these two sets for perfect two step stamping. I also bought Malanie's "Tech Talk" because, well, that dang laptop is too cute:). Of course at Gina K. when you buy three stamp sets, you get one free. So this month it was "Inside and Out", the perfect set for adding greetings to both the inside and outside of cards.

Hello, A new year has begun and time to update the blog. Today I made a card to celebrate Melanie's 2 years of blogging and 25 stamp sets. I used her Inspirational Mosaic stamp set, stamped in Chocolate Chip ink two sentiments from the set, then paper pieced the rest of the spaces. The base is Chocolate Chip, then the middle layer is Rose Red, and the DP is Basic Grey's Bittersweet collection. The ribbon is pink satin, and of course it had to have some Bling.

My second Christmas card features the MFT stamp set, Christmas Owls. The image was stamped using Memento Black ink and colored with Copics and Spica glitter pens. The image was then layered on a piece of real red cardstock. The card base is a left over piece of the now retired wild wasabi cardstock fron Stampin' Up. And the layering a piece of left over DP from an old christmas DP pad. The sentiment was stamped on a piece of Gina K.'s white pure luxury cardstockm cut out and embossed with the spellbinders ribbon tag die and sponged with Wild Wasabi ink before removing it from the die. it was secured to the card using a left over piece of red ribbon. Isn't it cute, so fun!! Susan

My First 2009 Christmas Card

Good afternoon, I have finally scanned the first card I made for Christmas this Year. It was using the sleigh from Gina K's set The magic of Christmas that I got last year. The base is Bravo Burgundy, and the background, image and sentiment are on very vanilla cardstock. The sleigh and it's layer we cut using the curvy rectangles nestablity in my cuttlebug and the large Vanilla base was embossed using the script cuttlebug embossing folder. The gold was added to the sleigh using a gold Spica glitter pen and the ribbon and brad are from Stampin' Up. Thanks For Looking!! Susan

I made this cute little door hanger for a male friend of mine's daughter. I thought it was perfect as he calls her "Princess" all the time. I used my new "Night Night Ellie" from MFT. The printed paper is from Basic Grey's Porcelain paper pad. I adhered a piece of paper from the pad to a chipboard coaster, trimmed it and sanded the edges. Next, I stamped Ellie on a piece of plain white cardstock from GKD and paper pieced her pajamas and slippers. I masked Ellie and used the star stamp from the set and added little stars all around her. I mounted the white cardstock onto another piece of printed paper and the stuck it on the coaster. I lined up the three words on a clear mount and stamped them with memento tuxexo black ink. The moon was stamped directly on the printed paper and cover with a thick layer of yellow stickles. Her hair and skin were colored with copics prior to the paper piecing. I found I had a big empty spot so I added some MFT glitter flowers colored with copics, and added a glitter brad in the centre. I then added four blue swarovski crystals around Ellie, for a little more bling. To finish I punched a hole in each top corner, fed throught some ribbon, from MFT of course :) secured it with a couple of brads. I took it to her father who will give to her when she comes for the weekend. Hope she likes it. Susan

I made this card for "A Year of Bellas Swap" over at SCS. I mailed them to the hostess a few days ago and then found out the swap was on hold due to the mysterious disappearance of the hostess, so I figure it is okay to post it. The bella was colored with copics, and spica glitter pens. The layers were cut using my mega curvy label nestabilities. The ribbon I some I had left over from last year that I had purchased from Micheals. The bottom Hunter green layer was run through my cuttle bug with the traffic jam embossing folder. Two patterned paper pieces were added along with six green bella glitter dots. Once assembled the card front was adhered to a plain white card stock card. Thanks for looking, Susan

Congrats MFT IDOL Finalists

I made this card to congratulate all the finalists in the MFT IDOL challenge. There are many talented ladies who made beautiful creations for the challenge. This is also my MFTSC71 card. I used my "Digital Girl" stamp set from MFT, stamped the image with memento tuxedo black ink, colored it with copic markers, and paper pieced the dress. The DP is from Basic Grey's Marrakech paper pad. I added a little bling with some Swarovski crystals, and glitter flowers and brad, all from MFT. Additionally, I would like you all to note the new gadget on my side bar for the SCS Victorian Bushfire appeal 2009. I was not aware of the Australian bush fires and the damage being done until I read the store. You can read it too, and help if you can. MFT IDOL

This is the card I made for the MFT IDOL Challenge. I used all MFT products except my card base, and scalloped circle. The stamp set is new this month, "Hangin' with my Peeps". How cute is that. The printed papers, ribbon and crystals are from the MFT spring collection. The ladies dress is paper pieced as is the little chick on the circle. The large layer was punches using one of Martha Stewart's heart edge punches. I also masked the ladies legs to add the grass at the edge of the cement. Each chick was colored with a yellow spica glitter penand I paper pierced around the outer edge of the card and scalloped circle. The sentiment was stamped with memento tuxedo black ink after I cut it in half and arranged it on a circle block. I love how flexible these are it makes them so easy to shape.

This is the card I made for this weeks GKD Challenge - Get Inky... The Challenge is to use a formerly uninked stamp set or stamp. I have used an image from this set before, but not this one or this sentiment. This image is from "Hand in Hand" from Gina K. and id stamped with memento tuxedo black ink then colored with copics. This card will be going to the first baby girl born to one of my co-workers or friends. Since there are six mama's-to-be, one just had a boy, another knows she is having a boy, that makes 4 chances for a girl. The papers and brads are from Basic Grey's Bittersweet collection and the ribbon is from MFT's summer ribbon collection. Hoping for a girl next Susan :)

It's finally Thursday and the Gina K new release partay is tonight in the SCS forum. The release even includes Digi Paper, Woo Hoo!! I love digi paper. I just print it when I want it and with the texture I want. I need Shimmery paper, to try soon. I bet it will be amazing. There is even a stamp set that matches, and if you purchase any stamp set you get the digi paper free for a limited time, but then after that it's only $3.95 and you will never run out.... Can you tell I'm excited LOL :) Back to reality, I have a card to show you that I made for my BFF for her birthday. Being a biker Babe, she'll love it!! I used my Bikahbabeabella stamp from Stamping Bella, colored her with copics, added some stickles. The cardstock colors are lovely lilac and summer sun. Toteally Fantastic

Today, I finished up my swaps for the Gina K. January swap. I can't post it until the swap is complete and everyone has their swaps back. I can tell you it took me many mock ups, three days and a lot of work to complete them and I'm happy with what I've created. :) For my card today, I used my previously uninked stamp set Toteally Fantastic. I combined the sketch and Who's that girl challenges for it. The theme for the challenge was to use patriotic colors, red white and blue. Being from Canada, ours would leave out the blue and only have red and white. However, in support of my US sistahs I left in the blue and added some pink for me. LOL I lined up the three totes on a clear mount and stamped them on Gina K pure luxury white cardstock. It was my first time using it and it is sooooo smooth. The purses were atamped with Brilliance graphite black ink and colored with copics. Next, I layered them on night of navy and pretty in pink cardstock. The DP was printed using my printer and the red kiss digi paper from MFT. The sentiment was stamped using night of navy ink, the edges were drug across a read red ink pad, then mounted in night of navy. I assembled the whole think on a pretty in pink card base and added the flowers, which were originally light blue and pink but I colored them with copics. The flowers were attached together using a silver heart brad, and secured to the card with foam mounting tape. Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Susan

Hello fellow bloggers, I think I finally (fingers crossed) got my computer issues under control. I have still been stamping and today want to show you what I made with last weeks Bella color and sketch challenges. I used Lavender Bittybloom, the colors are ballet blue, lovely lilac, and brocade blue. The image was stamped using Brilliance graphite black ink pad and colored with copic markers. The image was cut out using rectangle nesties and layered on the blue which was cut with a scalloped rectangle nestie, the lilac was run through my cuttlebug with the script embossing folder. the ribbon is an older piece of lovely lilac grosgrain ribbon. This weeks Who's That Girl featured set is Serenity Now! The challenge is to use stripes in your design. I took the stamp set, striped digital paper, downloaded from the MFT store and combined it with this weeks sketch challenge from Paper Craft Planet. This is what I came up with. What do you think?? I wanted something unique to attach the two paper pieces, so I used paper clips. To add a little sparkle I colored her top with Spica Glitter Pens, added some Shimmer flowers and a glitter brad. This weeks sketch can be found here. I used Cupcake Flopsey, and the pink heart paper is from the new digital paper from Stephanie Fizer, spring collection, available here at MFT. I printed it on glossy cardstock and it is fabulous, and an endless supply. The regular cardstock chocolate chip was embossed using the Bloom Dots embossing folder and my cuttlebug. The card base and layers are pretty in pink.

This week was Hectic, but I did get a few challenges done. This is the card I made for this weeks Bella Sketch Challenge. I followed the sketch, but later moved the flower embellishment from the top right to the bottom left. This card uses Daisybella and the sentiment Feeling Groovy also from Stamping Bella. January MFT New Release Party Tonight

Tonight is MFT's new release party, and the sneak peaks are amazing. There are two Ambassador Challenges posted over in the forum at SCS. The first Challenge was to use bling, and that I did. I used Hey Chica!, colored her with Copic Markers and Spica Glitter Pens to make her sparkle. For embellishments I added a piece of wide real red grosgrain ribbon secured with two rhinestone brads. At the top I added two red glitter donuts with clear baubles in the centre. I used the sentiment to add a ray above her. Hi Ladies, Happy 2009! I thought I'd start making some cards for upcoming weddings. For this card I used my new mini Spousabella that I received free with my last Bella order. The base is cameo coral, the DP is From Basic Grey's Two Scoops paper pack. I colored the Bella with Copic markers, cut her and her frame using plain and scalloped rectangle nestabilities. The flower is from Gina K. and is a Sateen flower, and I used a self adhesive rhinestone in the centre. Finally the sentiment is also from Stamping Bella

Sorry I have been MIA, my computer crashed and I just got it repaired. Luckily my son was able to fix it. I made a few cards while I waited for my computer and thought I would share them with you. Hope you all had a great Christmas. My single friends and I had a small get together and present exchange on christmas, and I had made them all christmas cards using my bellas and fellas. They were a great hit, surprisingly it was the guys who were awed by the cards LOL. I made these cards with my newest bella stamps, Valentini, Julia's Diaper Bag, and mini Spouseabella. Day three of the SCS Holiday Challenge Extravaganza was yesterday, but I did not get a chance to post. The Challenge was to make a Scrap-ling ( They measure 1.25 x 4.25 and are made from the cut off strip leftover from turning a 4.25 x 5.5 card into a 4.25 square card.) This weeks Bella Sketch Challenge is #58. The sketch was simple and elegant. I used Polly Packages, colored her with Copics and Spica glitter pens. I assembled the layers and ribbon. The final touch was three green bella glitter dots and the sentiment.

Bellaversary Sketch Challenge

Shannan provided an awesome sketch for this challenge. I decided to use a fella stamp for this card as I had used bella stamps for the rest of the challenges, plus I had these really cool screw brads I've been wanting to use. The image was stamped using brilliance graphite black ink, then colored with copics. The cardstock colors are brilliant blue, handsome hunter and really rust. The DP is from CTMH Kaleidoscope Brights collection.The bottom of the rust card stock is punched with my new Martha Stewart zig zag embossing edge punch. Have a fabulous Monday, Susan

Bellaversary Theme Challenge

I used Javabella, and Clickabella to make this work scene and I colored them with my copic markers. There are two layers and two flower embellishments made from two flowers held together with a brad. Em's BellaVersary Bash

Last night was the BellaVersary Bash over at the forum on SCS. Em has some awesome new releases, and specials over at stampingbella.com. When I got up this morning I went to check out he creations from the challenges last night and got a fantastic surprise. The November Participation Winner was announced and it's ME!!! I was so shocked, I just sat and stared at the screen. Then of course I went and got my son and showed him, so he would stop thinking I'm crazy for always doing the challenges and saying I could win. The first Challenge last night was the BellaVersary Signature Color Challenge. So, in honor of Em, I got out my Stamping Bella stamp, my green and pink paper, some printed paper, punches nesties and bling and made this card. It looks even better IRL, less fuzzy and more vibrant, and the flowers sparkle. Hope you all have a great Saturday....Susan.

Hydrangea Bittybloom

This is my card for this weeks Bella Color Challenge #57. The colors for this challenge are Cameo Coral, Ballet Blue and Glorious Green, What a great combo! I inked up my remaining uninked bittybloom and colored her with copics. The green layer is punched using my new Martha Stewart zig zag embossing border punch I got at Michaels this morning and the coral layer is punched using my Fiskers scalloped threading punch. I used a small piece of glitter DP and cut the butterfly from it also. The final touch was the sentiment and two green bella glitter dots.

MFT Ambassador Challenge #1

The new release party over at the MFT forum on SCS was last night. The new sets are fabulous. I love the challenges and this one was to have three buttons and something blue on the card. Since a new Flopsey was being released and I had not used my one from last month, I decided to make a card with it. I used brilliance blue and bashful blue cardstock, a piece of glitter DP I got in a glitter paper pack last year. Three little brilliant blue buttons, and matching ribbon. I colored Flopsey with copics, paper pieced the cupcake bottom, dotted the icing, and added stickles to make the icing all glittery.The corners of the brilliant blue layer were punched with the wrought iron corner punch. The image was cut using oval nestabilities.

I just couldn't wait to share my newest stamp set with you. It's called And I said.. from MFT. I order the product bundle a couple of weeks ago and it came today. It included the stamp set, peerless watercolors, a palette, glitter ribbons, glitter flowers and brads, a white gels pen and a stamp storage case. I couldn't wait to ink up those stamps. This is what I came up with.

This weeks MFT Who's That Girl challenge featured set is "Merry Christmas?" plus add some sparkle or bling. I also used a sketch I found over at www.iheart2stamp.com. I stamped my image on whisper white cardstock, colored it with copics and spica glitter pens and cut it out using oval nestabilities. The base is certainly celery, the bottom layer is Pixie pink, which I scored with my score-pal. I took a piece of printed paper and double layered it and attached. The wide strip was put through the cuttlebug with the snowflake embossing folder. The sentiment was stamped in pixie pink and attached then my appletini on top. I really like this card and can think of many people I could give it to, so I think I'll make some more with different layouts. Cheers! Susan

Bella Sketch Challenge #57

Today is Monday and that means a new sketch challenge over at the Stamping Bella forum on SCS. For my card I used yet another Bittybloom, this is Poppy! For the card I used real read cardstock for the base. I cut out two large scallop rectangles from wild wasabi cardstock, and overlapped them till I got the right size and cut and fit them together. To cover the line I put a piece if ribbon, then attached my image after layering it a few times. For the flowers I used four pink sateen flowers I got at Michaels. (I must tell you these are the bomb, they come in a cute reusable clear plastic pail and there must be hundreds in it. They come in blue too, look in the wedding section.) Anyways, I colored them with a cadmium red copic marker, and love how they shimmer. I layered two attached them together with a brad and attached them with a glue dot. The final touches are a sentiment and a couple of glitter bella dots. TFL Susan

Hi again, I have just finished my second 12 hour day, and I'm pooped. Luckily, I have a couple of cards on file I have not shared. I made this card two days ago. I combined many of this weeks MFT challenges from SCS. I used the sketch challenge for the layout, the Who's That Girl Monday challenge, except, I changed the stamp set, but did use some scraps. Also, the What's up Wednesday challenge required a water feature, here a goblet of water. Last but not least, MFT Friday, to use MFT Colors Pink, White and Black. I know the pic looks brownish, but it is black IRF. Enjoy Susan

Day 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas

This is the card I made for day 2 of the 12 days of Christmas challenges over at Paper Craft Planet. Today the challenge was to use either a bird or reptile on you creation. Since I have no other bird stamps and no reptile stamps I used this one. However, I needed two, so I used the reflection technique to make a mirror image. I stamped one dove on cardstock and the other on a piece of acetate. Next, I colored in the leaves and beak with copics, flipped the acetate over, lined up the images and stuck it together. The sentiment I printed on my printer. A little layering and embellishing and voila, my card. Thanks for stopping by, Susan

Today I spent making many many cards. I started with a one sheet wonder template and made 10 Christmas cards. Then I caught up on the challenges I had not completed on SCS. Then I added them to my albums over at PCP. Next I joined a blogger group on SCS and added their blogs to mine. Now for a card. This is my favorite card I made today, I made for the MFT sketch challenge. I just love the layout and who can resist the yummy cupcake. I'm not sure everyone would agree that Christmas is a cupcake kind of day, but I sure do!! Hope you all have a cupcake kind of day!! Susan

Hello, I hope all my American friends had a very Happy Thanksgiving. Here in Canada it is just another day so I made a card. This card is made using "The Magic of Christmas" stamp set that I got from Gina K. Designs. I love this sleigh it's so fancy. The image was stamped on white cardstock, cut out using oval nestabilities and mounted on a scalloped oval. I used a sketch I found on Splitcoaststampers.com, a piece of printed paper, ribbon, added a greeting and voila..a card LOL :)

when we are all rushing about trying to get our holiday crafts one, shopping completed, travel plans made, and cooking planned. My holidays have simplified with kids getting older, my shopping list has shrunk, and I purchase baked goods, and am making a simple Christmas dinner. The one thing I never expected was so many requests for my Christmas cards. I sell then only to friends and co-workers, usually by leaving a box at work. Now I have been told by several staff including one doctor and friends that I need to make more cards because they want to buy them for Christmas..EEK, guess I better get busy. This card uses one of the new Bittybloom from Stamping Bella. Her name is Bluebell. I stamped her using brilliance black ink and colored her with Copic markers. I layered her on printed paper punched with my wrought iron punch, then on mellow moss and brilliant blue card stock. I finished off the card with a bow made of brilliant blue grosgrain ribbon and a couple of bella glitter dots in green. I think she is just adorable. Hope you had a great weekend, Susan.

Good Morning everyone, it is 6:30 am here and were in the middle of a snow storm. I'm awake early so I thought I'd share a card this time for the guys. Color Your Stamps with Copics

Hey fellow stampers, when I first began stamping I was to to never get rubbing alcohol near my rubbah. Well, Gina K. has come up with a tutorial on Coloring with Copic markers directly on your stamps, then use a mini mister with rubbing alcohol to rehydrate the ink, It works great, and my stamp came completely clean afterwards. Go ahead give it a try!!

I always seem to make the same type of card. Now I'm trying to get away from the flowers and create something for all those guys out there who will smile nicely and say thank you. A card just for them. Here I have used golfafella and beerafella, from stamping Bella to create a card, just for the guys. I also have fixafella and grillafella so there's a card for all those guys. Personally, I bought beerafella, because it reminds me of my dad, so I used it to make a card for him. Golfafella reminds me of my FIL, Bill. He loves to golf, so his card will have golfafella. Another day another Bella. Today I decided to play with some Bellas. Mwahabella was up first, as she reminds me of my DD Emily. I used some papers and ribbon given to me by my BFF Cindy. Using Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery cardstock from SU! Her outfit is paper pieced her outfit and colored the rest with art pencils. I added a couple of Bella baubles, and a fun flower. She's so cute.
