Welcome to this month's CAS Encouragement Challenge.

This month the team used the graphic below to insire our cards and the colors black and white.

Welcome back to this months Calling All Sistahs reminder to do your monthly self breast examination and to book your yearly mammogram if it is due. Please go to the Calling All Sistahs Blog to read this months survival story.

And now on to this months reminder card...

I decided to make a shaker card this month. I started by making a shaker frame using a frame die and backed it with white fun foam. The die cut the stamped Hope Ribbon with the Ruffled Ribbon Fri-die is also supported by a ribbon cut out of fun foam glued under the top ribbon but under the acetate top. The sequins are from the previously available Sistahood Sparkle sequin mix. The word hope was die cut out of pink glitter paper using the Hope Fri-die and the sentiment from was white heat embossed on black cardstock.

See you tomorrow for this month's Encouragement Challenge.

I hope you are having a great day!!

I then stamped the Word Ribbon stamp in Black, mounted it onto another piece of watercolor paper cut using a larger stitched rectangle die, with foam tape. the card panel was then attached to a dark pink top folding card base.

One Layer Wonders Lesson 3

Lesson 3 - Watercolor Under Painting.  This was one of the most difficult cards for me to make!!  It looked like a hot mess!!!  None the less I persisted, set it aside to dry and I left the stamp in my MISTI, so I could stamp over the distress oxide inks when dry. This made a huge difference.I then took my Artist Markers and added some color to the image, framed it up with a copic multiliner and called it done!!

Here is the finished card. On to lesson 4

Hope you have a great day!

OLW Lesson 2

Hello!  I am back with my card from Lesson 2 of the Altenew Academy class One-layer Wonders.  In this lesson called Multicolored Stamping we had to make a card background using multicolored stamping, masking a shape and creating a label.
I picked out a rainbow of ink cubes from my stash, a background stamp, a heart die, masking paper, my Altenew Artist Markers and some sentiment stamps. Oh and my trusty MISTI!!

Voila!!  Here is my card!!

I colored in some of the diamond shapes with coordinatings markers and added shimmer on top. I must confess I totally cheated on making my own label and used the "You Rock!" from the Label Love stamp set.

I must now get to Lesson Three. Wish me luck with this one, I think I am going to need it!!

One-Layer Wonders

Hello, I hope you are all enjoying the Summer weather. Here in Canada it has been fairly warm and humid.
I started a new class over at Altenew Academy called One-layer-Wonders. Anyone who knows me knows one layer cards are not my thing. I am more of a bring on all the layers kinda person, This class is taught by Kelly Latevola.  I am obsessed with her card making skills, so I had to sign up for this class the second I saw it was available!!
So, on to the class. Lesson One, was pattern stamping and simple coloring. I watch the video, get out some stamps and I am confident I got this. Well, a few boo boos happened and I was not starting again, so I covered them with enamel dots. I think that is allowed???  My banner shadow went a little on the huge side, but I am just going with it lol. So here is my finished card.

Thanks for stopping by and I will be back with lesson 2 of this class soon.

CAS Encouragement Challenge #14

Welcome to this months Encouragement Challenge!!  This months inspiration photo is beautiful!!

I love the daisies and the colors, I did not have a daisy stamp so I used the colors as my inspiration. Sometimes as crafters things we see in our minds that do not come out as we thought it would. This is what happened to me this month. lol

Anyways, I hope you like it and also play along with our challenge, which you can find on the blog.

I used the Serendipi-tea stamp set and coordinating Fri-dies along with the Full on Floral stamp set. I was using a technique I saw on You Tube by Jennifer MacGuire that she called Stepped Back Stamping. The top panel is popped up and the images are on the card base.

I look forward to seeing all of your creations over on the challenge. Remember, there are prizes up for grabs!!

Also if you used the code below you can save 15% over at the Cas-ual Fridays Stamps Shop

See you soon

Background Magic Day 4

For lesson 4 Laurel showed us varoius ways to mask backgrounds. I chose to cut out a mask using a heart die and use it for my card. Once my mask was in place I inked up the Gradient Stripes Background stamp and stamped it over the mask.  I then removed the mask and found I got ink spots where I did not want them so I added a layer of vellum on top and added a focal image and sentment from the Frosted Garden stamp set which I stamped with black ink and clear embossed over it.

I love the look of this card and will be using this technique again!!
Thank for stopping by!!

Background Magic Class Day 3

Hello again!!  I skipped to Lesson 3's homework, mostly because I was waiting for a stamp set to arrive that I wanted to use.  For today's homework I chose to heat emboss my Watercolor Dots Background on to a piece of Vellum with rose gold embossing powder. Then, I flipped it over and colored the back with a selection of blue Altenew Artist Markers. I then attached the colored vellum on top of a piece of white cardstock, attached it to a card base and added a sentiment strip onto which I stamped a sentiment from the Altenew Crafty Friend Stamp set in black ink.

Stay tuned for Day 4 !!

Altenew Backgrounds Magic Class Day 1

Good morning, I started a new class over at Altenew this week taught by Laurel Beard.
Today I am going to show you my card I made for Lesson 1. For this class we were to make a card using an inking technique. For my card I chose to use the new Watercolor Dots Background stamp, which I inked up using mini ink cubes then spritzed with water a couple of times and stamped onto a piece of watercolor card stock.

To finish this card I cut out a label using a die and white heat embossed my sentiment from the Crafty friends stamp set.

I will be back to post my day 2 card shortly.

Creative coloring Class from Altenew

I recently took a class by Altenew Academy called Creative coloring. It was not what I expected from the class but titles can be misleading. This class covered basic blending .  My fist card I used copic as I had not recieved my artist marker as of yet and I used a different cover plate die.

For the second project we were to do a no line coloring technique, but when I got the artist markers I forgot and stamped the image full strength. So I just went with it lol

Project 3- This one had a lot more coloring. I fussy cut it out popped it up with foam tape and added extra embellishment.

Overall I liked the class and would reccomend it to any beginner colorist.

Thanks for stopping by..
